Our farming activities are divided in 4 areas.
The "Campaniça" sheep, typical of the region, is characterized by small animals but very well adapted to the rough conditions of the Algarve's Inland. Its wool is recognized to be water-repellent, used to make blankets and fisherman's clothing. Our flock has about 1100 animals and the management is done under certified organic production rules.
The Quinta's forest areas are mainly occupied by cork oak plantataions for the production of cork and carob trees for carob production. The forest area is also used as pasture for sheep that thus do bush control and fire prevention.
The production of fruit and vegetables is largely intended to be processed into jams and other traditional products in our small transformation unit. Some of these products are also sent to Quinta do Mel to serve at the restaurant. All the plants grown are certified as organic farming products.
